Hello friends,
Today, I continued to clean and prepare for bonding, as my dentist taught me. I tried to score a whole beam but failed. I'm obviously going to have to rely on the 666. I push the 8x1 aluminum sheet again to put the rivets. Hopefully the weather is nice because I work outdoors.
Greetings.

Good Job

Beitrag von r-rider »

Hello Jack,

you can admire the passion with which the roof is repaired. Replacing the old wooden beams is a complex repair. But as I read it, the best adhesives are used. A little expensive but good. Hopefully your floor is still well preserved, otherwise the effort will be so great. I wish maximum success!

Best regards

Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang,
I have looked at the photos from your repair many times. You've done great things.
Would you answer me what glue did you use for stuck the carpet on the ceiling?

Greetings

Hi Jack,

I used dispersion adhesive for the carpet on the ceiling and the artificial leather covering on the walls. It is important that the carpet has a felt side to stick on. The wall covering is laminated with 3mm foam. Please take a look at the pictures of how to get the carpet on the ceiling simply and alone.

Pattex carpet and PVC adhesive universal, strong adhesive for PVC coverings & carpets, carpet adhesive suitable for underfloor heating, chair roll-resistant adhesive.
https://www.amazon.de/Pattex-Teppich-Kl ... 953&sr=8-5

I used the TOOM house brand, it was cheaper than Pattex, but the adhesives hardly differ. Use a notched trowel to pull the adhesive onto the aluminum plate.

Addendum

The carpet roll can be easily pushed onto a round stick that has exactly the width of the arnold in the wall crease area. So the carpet rolls off well and you can glue in sections of 50 cm and then fix the carpet with support beams.

Wolfgang

Production number?

Beitrag von Petra B. »

Hi Jack,

at one of the posted pictures you can see the number 939. .... This should be the production-number! At your signature i can read "1367" There is a difference i can not explain.... Sometimes Arnold changed the numbers for the body-sets, but in the known cases there are both numbers written and the old one is crossed out.

Perhaps you can explain this and post a picture where you found the "1367". I will look the next time in my papers to find out some more.

Then i have a compliment! You are making a very good job with your body repair! It takes some time, but the result will last "forever". A very good sample how to do this.

I did some similar repairs, eg. the seatbelt-anchoring at the sidewall on the right side. If someone has also such a problem i can give some more information, because this is security-relevant.

Hi Wolfgang,
Well I asked. I was thinking of gluing it with a
Polychloroprene solvent based adhesive, which seemed very difficult.

Thank you.
Best Regards.

Carpet Glue

Beitrag von r-rider »

Hello jack,

I have had good experiences with these dispersion adhesives. The carpet on the ceiling is bombproof. The wall covering also shows no signs of detachment. The good thing about the glue, it picks up quickly and in an hour the carpet is on the ceiling.

Hello everyone,
Wolfgang, I'm going to try it with dispersion adhesive as you suggest.
Today I removed the supports. When I hit the ceiling, it's like hitting a concrete wall. Very good result. But unfortunately there are bumps that I wonder how to straighten before gluing the carpet.
Here is a picture:

Petra B., you spotted my signature correctly - 1367. This is the number I found when I was repairing the floor last summer. I can post a photo. 939 is Wolfgang's Arnold, I think.

Hi Jack,

to balance the ceiling, I would use a polyester spatula for car repairs. A height difference of 1.5 mm over 10 cm can be covered very well. Yes my Arni "One" has the 939

A question, how did you remove the glue from the wall? At that time I cursed the world and worked with various solvents. But none worked perfectly.

Hello Wolfgang,
As you know there is no easy way to do this. I wasted a lot of time trying a diluent, coreselin, acetone and other "magics" - in vain. I did it mechanically with a scraper. It's good to be warm. The most important thing is to sharpen your tool every hour of work. When I started to follow it, I had a lot of progress.
But the ceiling is Hell.

good hands

Beitrag von r-rider »

Hello jack

yes I also did it with a ceramic hob scraper and used up a few dozen blades. As a solvent, I tried turpentine, acetone, petrol and other poisons such as synthetic thinner. Only the screw holes were a problem for the scraper. Too bad there is no miracle cure only hardworking hands.
Good luck continues!
